Masters of the Universe

I created this sketch for my dear friend, Willie Ito. I've completely forgotten the occasion but I wanted to include all the "players" in Willie's incredible career. And, they're all here in this drawing. The wacky creator of "Beany and Cecil," Bob Clampett. Naturally, there's Willie's first boss, Walt Disney and the two guys Mr. Ito worked with longest. Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera. Finally, Willie wrapped up his stellar career back at Disney working for, none other than my favorite CEO, Michael Eisner.

So, here's the gang together in one crazy drawing. Finally, as irrascible as these guys could be, today I truly miss them. They were each one of a kind, and the business was lucky to have them.

Fun at Pixar

This is an inside look at some crazy guys as work continues at Pixar Animation Studios during the making of "Toy Story2." This was 1998 and during the final months of story development. We were all getting so punchy from the long hours we started playing with Barbie dolls. Pathetic, right? In any case, a truly great film was finally produced and Pixar could boast of a third hit film. Plus, the team had only made three movies. Pretty damn good track record if you ask me.

Lucky for me, I was invited to stick around for a second film at the Emeryville magic factory. I had already moved out of my San Raphael digs when Darla K. Anderson invited me to work on her new film. It was called, "Monsters, Inc." and directed by Pete Docter. Gosh-a-rooty! How could I refuse an offer like that?
